About pdfty

pdfty is a privacy-first online PDF toolkit built for everyone — students, lawyers, designers, accountants — anyone who works with documents.

What we do

We offer 35 PDF operations: convert (PDF ↔ Word/Excel/PowerPoint, image formats, HTML, Markdown), edit (sign, watermark, OCR, redact), organize (merge, split, rotate, reorder, crop), secure (password protect, unlock), and optimize (compress, repair, flatten, extract). All in your browser, through 16 languages.

Privacy first

Your files are uploaded over HTTPS, processed on our server, and permanently deleted within 1 hour. We do not back up files, do not train machine-learning models on your documents, and do not share with third parties. We log only the minimum needed to run the service (rate limits, error reports without file content).

Open foundation

pdfty is built on top of established open-source tools:

• LibreOffice for Office ↔ PDF conversion
• Ghostscript for compression and PDF/A
• Tesseract for OCR in 5+ languages
• pikepdf and PyMuPDF for PDF manipulation
• WeasyPrint for HTML/Markdown to PDF

Building on these means we focus on UI, performance, and reliability rather than reinventing PDF parsing.
