pdfty is built by a small, fully remote team. We do not have open positions at the moment and we do not run a recruiting pipeline, but we read every message, and several people who work with us today first wrote to us out of the blue.
How we work
- Remote and asynchronous: we are spread across time zones and write things down instead of holding meetings.
- Small and senior: everyone ships end to end, from the PDF engine to the page copy.
- Privacy first: files are deleted within an hour and we never build anything that depends on reading them.
- Free for users: the product has no paid tier, so we optimize for usefulness and speed, not for conversion funnels.
What we build with
Next.js and TypeScript on the front end, Python (FastAPI) and Celery workers on the back end, PostgreSQL and Redis, and PDF engines such as pikepdf, PyMuPDF, Ghostscript, LibreOffice and Tesseract. The editor runs on PDFium compiled to WebAssembly.
Who we like to hear from
- Engineers who have shipped document, image or printing software and enjoy the detail of PDF internals.
- Writers and translators who can explain a technical tool in plain language in one of our 15 languages.
- Designers who care about accessibility and about pages that load fast.
