ARW is the RAW format of Sony Alpha cameras such as the A7 series and A6000 line: unprocessed sensor data straight from the camera. JPG opens everywhere — browsers, phones, email, Office, photo printers and online forms — and keeps photos small.
The RAW data is developed with LibRaw using the white balance recorded by the camera, at full sensor resolution and 8 bits per channel. The JPG is saved at quality 85, which keeps detail while cutting file size.
