EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) is an older vector format used for print and logo files, often delivered by designers and print shops. PNG keeps every pixel exactly and supports transparent backgrounds, which makes it ideal for editing, screenshots, logos and graphics.
The EPS is rendered with Ghostscript at up to 8× its point size, about 2048 px on the longest side. PNG is lossless, so the conversion adds no compression artifacts.
