HEIC to PNG

Convert HEIC photos to lossless PNG

PNG is the right target when you plan to edit a photo further. It is lossless, so every round of cropping, annotating or retouching starts from the full detail of your iPhone shot instead of a re-compressed JPG. pdfty's HEIC to PNG converter is handy for designers, for documentation screenshots taken on an iPhone, and for anyone whose editor does not read HEIC.

We decode with libheif and Pillow on our server, apply the EXIF rotation so nothing comes out sideways, and write a standard PNG. The trade-off is size: a 2 MB HEIC photo can easily become a 10โ€“15 MB PNG, because PNG does not compress photographs well. If you only need to share or upload the image, HEIC to JPG is usually the better choice.

Several photos at once give a ZIP with one PNG per file. Free: no daily limit, up to 20 MB per file, no watermark, no sign-up. Uploads are deleted within 1 hour. The PNGs open in Photoshop, GIMP, Figma, Canva and every other editor without plugins.

How it works

  1. 1

    Upload HEIC files

Drag and drop one or more .heic photos. Up to 20 MB each free.

Photos are decoded, rotated upright from EXIF and saved as lossless PNG.

  3. 3

    Wait a few seconds

Large photos take slightly longer because PNG output is bigger.

  4. 4

    Download

One photo gives one PNG; several photos arrive as a ZIP.

    Edit freely

Open the PNGs in any editor โ€” no further quality loss on re-save.

Frequently asked questions

The PNG stores exactly the pixels decoded from the HEIC, with no additional compression loss. It cannot add detail that the HEIC did not contain.
