PNG to ICO

Create a multi-size favicon from a PNG

Browsers, Windows shortcuts and bookmarks still look for a favicon.ico file. pdfty's PNG to ICO converter turns your logo into a proper multi-size icon, so the same file looks sharp in a browser tab, on a Windows taskbar and on a desktop shortcut. It is the quickest way to give a new website, web app or internal tool a proper tab icon.

We build the ICO on our server with Pillow and pack in the standard sizes: 16, 32, 48, 64, 128 and 256 px. Sizes larger than your source image are skipped rather than upscaled, so for the full set start from a square PNG at least 256×256 px. Transparency is preserved. Keep the design simple — fine detail disappears at 16 px.

Upload several PNGs at once and get a ZIP with one ICO per file. Free: no daily limit, up to 20 MB per file, no watermark, no sign-up. Files are deleted within 1 hour. Modern sites usually add a PNG icon and an Apple touch icon as well; the ICO covers browsers and Windows.
