ICO to PNG

ICO files are hard to work with: most image editors, slide tools and websites will not open them. pdfty's ICO to PNG converter pulls the image out of a favicon.ico or Windows icon and saves it as a standard PNG, so you can reuse an old logo, put an icon in documentation or edit it in any tool.

Conversion runs on our server with Pillow. An ICO often contains several sizes of the same icon; we extract the image Pillow opens by default, which is normally the largest one stored in the file. Transparency is kept. Bear in mind that favicons are tiny — if the largest size inside is 32 px, the PNG will be 32 px too.
