Seven rows, one for each day of the week, and three meals across: morning, midday and evening. Each meal has two columns. The wide one is for the food and the amount, so you can write "half a cup of the dry, plus a spoon of the wet" rather than just a tick. The narrow one is for initials, which is the column that stops a dog being fed twice because two people in the house each thought the other had forgotten.

Above the table, four lines hold the things that stay the same all week: the food or brand, the amount per meal, which treats are allowed, and what the animal must not be given. Two more columns on the right of each day take treats and extras, and water, walks and notes. A ruled box at the foot covers supplements, changes to the food and anything the next person should know.

Choose whether the week starts on Monday or Sunday before you download. Every cell is a form field, including the pet's name, the week, the four food lines and the notes box, so you can type the usual routine once and print seven copies for a holiday, or print it blank and fill it in by hand on the fridge. A sitter can read it without being told anything, and you can see from the doorway whether the evening meal has been done. One landscape page in US Letter or A4.

How to use it

    Pick the week start

Monday or Sunday, then US Letter or A4.

  2. 2

    Fill in the food line

Type the food or brand, the amount per meal, the treats that are allowed and anything the animal must not be given.

  3. 3

    Print or fill it in

Print at 100% ("Actual size") so lines and boxes keep their exact spacing, or fill the form fields on screen in any PDF viewer.

  4. 4

    Initial every meal

Whoever feeds writes their initials in the narrow column next to the portion. A glance at the sheet then shows what is still to do.

Three: morning, midday and evening, each with its own portion and initials columns. If your animal eats twice a day, leave the midday pair empty or use it for a supplement or a chew.
It is laid out for one animal, because portions and times differ. For a household with two or three, print a sheet each and put the name at the top — the pet field is a form field.
Yes. The pet name, the week, the food lines, every meal cell and the notes box are PDF form fields that work in Adobe Reader, Preview, Chrome or Edge.
No. Portions depend on the animal's weight, age, health and food, so the amount line is blank for you to copy from the packaging or from your vet.
Yes, and it pairs with the printable pet sitter instructions sheet: one page for the routine, this one for the week of meals.
