A resignation letter should be short, calm and easy to file. This one is written that way: four paragraphs that state you are resigning and from which position, give your last working day, thank your manager, offer to help with the handover, and close politely. Nothing in the draft complains, explains too much or burns a bridge, because the letter usually ends up in your personnel file and your manager may be asked for a reference later.
Pick the notice period before you download and the pre-filled wording changes with it. Two weeks and one month name that period in the first line and promise a handover to match, while the immediate version acknowledges the short notice, says where your notes are and offers to answer questions by email afterwards. Replace the bracketed parts with your job title, the company, the real date and the project you are handing over.
The layout is a formal business letter: your name and contact details at the top in the same design as our resume templates, the date, your manager's name, title, company and address, a subject line, the salutation, the body, then a ruled signature line with your typed name. Every part is a form field, so you can finish it on screen in a couple of minutes, print it on US Letter or A4 and sign it by hand.
