A move goes wrong in the small things: the mail that still goes to the old address, the meter reading nobody took, the spare keys that went off in the truck. This sheet lists 43 tasks grouped into six stages — eight weeks before, four weeks, two weeks, moving week, moving day and after the move — so each job comes up at the point where it is still easy to do.
The early stages deal with quotes, written notice to a landlord and deciding what you are not taking. The middle stages cover boxes and labelling, the change of address, transferring gas, electric, water and internet, and updating the bank, the school and the doctor. Moving week and moving day cover the first-night box, the fridge, meter readings, the walk-through and the key handover. The last stage is what to do once you are in.
Every task has a checkbox, every stage ends with a blank line for jobs only your move has, and two write-in boxes hold utility account numbers and general notes. All of it is fillable, so you can add tasks on screen before printing, or print it blank and work down the page with a pen. The stages read from the top of the left column to the foot of the right one. One page, US Letter or A4.
