Image Converter Tools

Convert between 23 image formats — JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, GIF, SVG, ICO, TIFF, RAW and more. Every pair has its own page with measured results.

The image converters on pdfty cover 23 formats: everyday JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC and GIF; the newer AVIF, JPEG XL and JPEG 2000; icon formats ICO and ICNS; game textures TGA and DDS; design files PSD, EPS and AI; and camera RAW from Canon, Nikon, Sony and the open DNG. Each pair has its own page that explains what the conversion keeps and loses, with the result measured on real test files.

A few rules of thumb: photos belong in JPG, WebP or AVIF; graphics with sharp edges and transparency in PNG; anything that must scale in SVG. Converting a lossy format to a lossless one does not restore detail. HEIC from an iPhone is the most common file that will not open on Windows, and WebP the most common one print shops reject — both are a one-click fix here.

The converter re-encodes pixels: EXIF data such as the GPS location is dropped for JPG, PNG and WebP output and kept for HEIC, AVIF and TIFF, and orientation is always applied so photos do not come out sideways. Files up to 20 MB (45 MB for RAW, PSD and AI) are processed on our servers and deleted within an hour.
