How to create a fillable PDF form
Create field adds interactive form fields to any PDF, so other people can fill it in with any PDF reader. The output is a standard fillable PDF form, not just text drawn on the page.
Step by step
Open the document
Open the PDF you want to turn into a form.
Choose Create field
Click Create field in the tool rail or press Shift+F.
Pick a field type
Choose a text field, checkbox, radio button or dropdown.
Drag on the page
Drag a rectangle where the field should be, for example over a blank line or an empty box.
Test and download
Switch to Fill form (F) to try the fields, then download the PDF.
Tips
- Size text fields to fit the expected answer: short for dates, wide for addresses.
- Use radio buttons when only one option may be chosen and checkboxes when several can be.
- Do not flatten a form you want others to fill in, because flattening turns fields into static content.
