How to sign a PDF

The Signature tool lets you add your handwritten signature to contracts, forms and letters without printing anything. Create it once and reuse it on later documents in the same browser.

Step by step

  1. Choose Signature

    Click Signature in the tool rail or press S.

  2. Create your signature

    Draw it, type your name and pick one of four handwriting fonts, or upload a picture of your signature.

  3. Place it on the page

    Click where the signature belongs, for example on the signature line.

  4. Adjust the size

    Drag the corners to resize the signature until it fits the line.

  5. Download

    Click Download to save the signed PDF. Turn on Flatten if you want the signature merged into the page.

Tips

  • Saved signatures stay only in this browser. They are not uploaded and do not follow you to other devices.
  • An uploaded signature looks best when it is dark ink on a plain white background.
  • Add today's date next to it with Add text (T) or a stamp with the date turned on.

Frequently asked questions

Is a drawn signature legally binding?

In many places a simple electronic signature is accepted for everyday agreements, but rules vary by country and document type. Check what your recipient requires.

Where is my saved signature stored?

Only in this browser on this device. pdfty does not receive it, and clearing your browser data removes it.

Can I sign several pages?

Yes. Select the Signature tool and click on each page where a signature is needed.
