PDF editor keyboard shortcuts

Almost every tool in the editor has a one-key shortcut, so you can switch between editing, marking up and signing without reaching for the tool rail. On a Mac, use Cmd wherever Ctrl is listed.

Step by step

  1. Switch tools with one key

Press E to edit text, T to add text, F to fill a form, H to highlight, S to sign, X to redact. The full list is in the table on this page.

  2. Return to Select

Press Esc or V to go back to the Select tool, for example after placing an object.

  3. Undo and redo

Press Ctrl/Cmd+Z to undo. Press Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y to redo.

  4. Delete objects

Select a text box, shape, image or annotation and press Delete or Backspace.

  5. Navigate forms and search

Use Tab and Shift+Tab between form fields, and Ctrl/Cmd+F to search the document.

Tips

  • Hover over a tool in the rail to see its name and shortcut.
  • Pressing Esc after placing an object takes you back to Select, ready to move on.
