How to draw on a PDF
The Draw tool is for freehand marks: circling a detail, sketching an arrow or adding quick handwritten notes. Pick a pen for fine lines or a marker for broad, see-through strokes.
Step by step
Choose Draw
Click Draw in the tool rail or press P.
Pick Pen or Marker
Choose Pen or Marker in the properties panel, then set the color, thickness and opacity.
Draw on the page
Press and drag to draw. Each continuous movement becomes one stroke.
Erase mistakes
Switch to the Eraser and click a stroke to remove it entirely, or press Ctrl/Cmd+Z to undo the last one.
Tips
- The Eraser removes whole strokes, not parts of them, so draw in short strokes if you expect to make corrections.
- For straight lines and neat boxes, Shapes (R) gives cleaner results.
- A marker with low opacity works like a freehand highlighter.
Frequently asked questions
How do I undo a stroke?
Press Ctrl/Cmd+Z to undo the last stroke, or use the Eraser to remove any stroke on the page.
How do I erase only part of a line?
The Eraser removes a complete stroke. Erase it and redraw the part you want to keep.
Should I use Draw to sign?
Use the Signature tool instead. It saves your signature for reuse and lets you resize it as one object.
