Most home repairs start as maintenance somebody forgot. This sheet lists 32 jobs across four seasonal blocks of eight, covering the things that quietly matter: smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, gutters and downspouts, the furnace or HVAC filter, servicing the heating before the cold and the air conditioning before the heat, outside taps, slow drains, the dryer vent, the water heater, the sump pump and the chimney.

Each job has a box to tick and a line for the date it was done, which is the part that pays off. A date tells you when the filter was last changed and whether the boiler service is due, and it is the record a buyer or a landlord asks for. A band at the foot holds contractor numbers, the boiler or HVAC account number and anything a job turned up that needs following later.

Head the four blocks by season — spring, summer, fall, winter — or by quarter, Q1 to Q4 with the months spelled out, if you file by calendar quarters. The job lists follow the season either way, so the heating service always lands before the cold weather. The dates and the notes band are fillable, so a sheet typed up once can be printed fresh each year. One page, US Letter or A4.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Choose the headings

Seasons, or quarters with the months named. Then pick US Letter or A4.

  2. 2

    Work through the current block

Do the jobs listed for the season you are in, tick the box and write the date on the line.

  3. 3

    Print or fill it in

Print at 100% ("Actual size") so lines and boxes keep their exact spacing, or fill the form fields on screen in any PDF viewer.

  4. 4

Keep it with the boiler paperwork

Note the contractor numbers and account numbers in the band at the foot so the next service is one phone call.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. There is no watermark and no sign-up for your first 20 downloads each day; after that a free account keeps downloads going. You may print the file as often as you like for personal, school or business use.
Eight per season: alarm tests, gutters, the furnace or HVAC filter, heating and air conditioning service, roof and chimney checks, outside taps, drains, the dryer vent, the water heater, the sump pump, seals and caulking, and outdoor woodwork.
Yes. The year, every date line, every done box and the notes band at the foot are form fields; the job text itself is printed.
Some people plan by season, some file by calendar quarter. The jobs stay in the right season in both versions, so Q1 carries the winter jobs and Q4 the autumn ones.
Partly. Alarm tests, filters, seals and drains apply anywhere; gutters, roofs and outside taps are usually the freeholder's or the building's job, so cross those lines out.
Yes, and that is the intention — print a fresh copy each January, keep last year's with your house paperwork, and the service history builds itself.
