Isometric paper is built from three families of lines: verticals, plus two sets running 30 degrees above and below the horizontal. Together they make equilateral triangles, which is what lets you draw a cube or a room with all three axes at the same scale. Every line here is placed from that geometry rather than eyeballed, so the triangles are genuinely equilateral and vertical edges stay vertical.

Choose a 5 mm triangle side for dense, detailed work or a quarter inch for larger sketches and quicker drawing. The grid is centered with equal margins and runs almost to the edge of the sheet, so you get the full drawing area instead of a small panel in the middle. Lines are a light blue-gray at 0.4 pt: visible enough to follow, faint enough that your own pencil or pen lines read first.

This is the paper for isometric product sketches, mechanical and piping drawings, architectural thumbnails, pixel and voxel art, knitting and beading charts, and hex-free tabletop mapping. It is a single vector page with nothing to fill in, so print it, trace on it, or load it into a note-taking app and draw with a stylus. Because the file is vector rather than a scanned image, the lines stay crisp at any print resolution and the triangles keep their exact size.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Choose the triangle size

5 mm for detailed drawing, 1/4 inch for larger sketches.

  2. 2

    Pick the paper size

US Letter or A4 — the grid is laid out for the sheet you choose.

  3. 3

    Download the PDF

One full page of isometric grid, free and without a watermark.

  4. 4

    Print at actual size

In the print dialog choose "Actual size" or 100% instead of "Fit to page", so every measurement on the sheet comes out exactly as labeled.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. There is no watermark and no sign-up for your first 20 downloads each day; after that a free account keeps downloads going. You may print the file as often as you like for personal, school or business use.
The sloping lines sit at 30 degrees to the horizontal, which puts them 120 degrees apart from each other and from the vertical lines. That is what makes the triangles equilateral.
Yes. Isometric paper, triangular graph paper and 3D sketch paper all describe this grid of equilateral triangles.
You can outline hexagons on it, but if you want ready-made hexes use our hex graph paper instead — it prints the hexagon outlines for you.
Yes, if you print at 100% ("Actual size"). Scaling to fit the page shrinks the triangles by a few percent.
