Setting up perspective by hand eats the first twenty minutes of a drawing. This sheet has it done: a horizon line across the page, the vanishing points marked and labelled, and the construction lines already drawn so you can go straight to the subject. The page is landscape, which is the shape most interiors, streets and still lifes want, and the horizon sits a little above centre at 42% of the drawing area — an eye level that suits a standing viewer.

The one-point version puts a single vanishing point in the middle of the sheet with sixty rays running out of it, plus horizontal lines that close up as they approach the horizon to give you a receding floor and ceiling. It is the grid for corridors, train tracks, a room seen square on. The two-point version drops the horizontals and places a vanishing point near each edge, with both fans of lines crossing the page, which is what you want for a building seen on the corner or a box in three-quarter view.

Both versions also carry faint vertical lines every half inch, because verticals stay vertical in one- and two-point perspective and they help you keep edges plumb. The construction lines print light grey-blue so your own pencil or ink reads first, and the horizon and vanishing points print darker so you can always find them. Nothing is fillable: this is a sheet to draw on, by hand or with a stylus over the PDF.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Choose one-point or two-point

One-point for rooms and roads seen head on, two-point for objects and buildings seen on the corner.

  2. 2

    Pick the paper size

US Letter or A4, both in landscape — the grid is rebuilt for the sheet you choose.

  3. 3

    Download the PDF

A full landscape page with the horizon line and vanishing points marked.

  4. 4

    Print or fill it in

Print at 100% ("Actual size") so lines and boxes keep their exact spacing, or fill the form fields on screen in any PDF viewer.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. There is no watermark and no sign-up for your first 20 downloads each day; after that a free account keeps downloads going. You may print the file as often as you like for personal, school or business use.
A little above the middle, at 42% of the height of the drawing area, which reads as the eye level of someone standing. It is labelled HORIZON at the left end.
Yes, that is the idea. The construction lines are light grey-blue at a third of a point, so pencil, ink and marker all sit clearly on top of them.
In two-point perspective nothing stays horizontal except the horizon itself — every horizontal edge runs to one of the two vanishing points, and those lines are already drawn.
No. There are no form fields; this is a drawing sheet. You can still draw on it in a tablet app such as Procreate, Concepts or GoodNotes by importing the PDF.
Not directly — this sheet covers one- and two-point. You can add a third vanishing point above or below the sheet by hand if you need the vertical convergence.
