The grid is a five-week month with the seven weekday columns across the top. Every day box has a date field at the top and five ruled lines underneath, each with its own tick box, so a day with three standing orders and a card payment fits comfortably. Writing the bills where they fall shows you the shape of the month at a glance: the cluster just after payday, the quiet fortnight, the awkward run of dates at the end.

The date boxes are left blank on purpose. That one decision makes the sheet work for any month of any year and for any country, with no assumption about which day the month starts on - you write the dates in once, and the bills stay exactly where they fall. Choose a week starting Monday or Sunday to match the calendar you already read.

Under the grid, three fields hold the total due this month, the total paid and what is still to pay, and the header records the month and the account the bills come from. The note at the foot is worth following: tick a bill only when the money has actually left the account, not when you have arranged it. No amounts, rates or dates are printed anywhere. One page, US Letter or A4, and every box is fillable.
