A perpetual calendar has no year on it, which is the whole point: birthdays and anniversaries fall on the same date every year, so you only ever need to write them down once. This sheet gives you twelve month blocks, each with the day numbers 1 to 31 printed down two narrow columns and a ruled line beside every number. Write the name next to the day and the sheet keeps working for as long as the paper lasts.

The one-page version puts all twelve months on a single landscape sheet in four columns of three, which is the version to pin inside a cupboard door or slip into the front of a diary. The two-page version gives six months per page with roughly twice the writing room on each line, which suits a long family list or anyone whose handwriting needs the space. Both print in US Letter or A4.

There is nothing to type here. With over three hundred lines on the sheet, form fields would be tiny and slow, so this one is printed and written by hand - which is also how you remember the dates as you put them in. Keep it with the birthday cards, or photograph it once it is full so you have a copy on your phone.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Choose the layout

All twelve months on one landscape sheet, or six months a page with more room to write.

  2. 2

    Download and print

US Letter or A4, free and without a watermark.

  3. 3

    Print or fill it in

Print at 100% ("Actual size") so lines and boxes keep their exact spacing, or fill the form fields on screen in any PDF viewer.

  4. 4

    Fill it in once

Write each name beside its day number. Because there is no year on the sheet, it carries on working every year after.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. There is no watermark and no sign-up for your first 20 downloads each day; after that a free account keeps downloads going. You may print the file as often as you like for personal, school or business use.
Because birthdays do not move. A perpetual calendar lists only the day numbers, so the same filled-in sheet is still correct next year and the year after.
No. The sheet has over three hundred day lines, so it carries no form fields - it is designed to be printed and written on by hand.
On the one-page version each line is about an inch long, enough for a first name. The two-page version roughly doubles that, which helps for full names or a couple of names on one day.
Yes. Many people put birthdays in pen and anniversaries in a second colour, or add a short initial after the name to tell them apart.
Yes, if you write on it with a stylus in an annotation app such as GoodNotes or Xodo. There are no fields to type into in a normal PDF reader.
