These cursive worksheets use a traditional US school cursive model. Each row starts with a dark model followed by light gray copies to trace, on writing lines with a dashed midline for the x-height and a dotted line for the tails of letters like g, j, p and y.

Choose lowercase or uppercase cursive letters (three pages each), common words such as "and", "friend" and "school" to practise joins, or blank cursive paper with the same guide lines for free writing.

Print in US Letter or A4 and work through a page a day.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Start with lowercase

Most children learn lowercase cursive first, then capitals.

  2. 2

    Trace each row

Copy the dark model, then trace the gray letters, keeping the pencil on the paper inside each letter.

  3. 3

    Move on to words

Words practise the joins between letters.

  4. 4

    Free writing

Use the blank lines to copy sentences or write your own.
