The timeline runs across the middle of a landscape page with an arrowhead at each end, so the line reads as time continuing in both directions rather than as a span that starts and stops at the edge of the paper. Marked points sit along it in order, and a thin leader connects each point to its own event box, with the boxes alternating above and below the line so nothing crowds.
Each box has a lavender header with a Date line and ruled writing space underneath for the event itself. Six boxes give deep boxes for a few important events with a sentence or two each; eight give narrower boxes for a denser sequence, such as the stages of a reign or the steps of a process. There are lines at the top for the topic and the pupil's name.
It suits history most obviously, but the same page works for the plot of a book, the stages of a life cycle, a family history interview or the events of a personal project. Every date line and event box is a form field, so a class can type their timeline and print it, or print it blank and write by hand. Nothing is dated in advance, so it is reusable for any period.
