This chart does the same job as a Venn diagram but gives far more room to write. Two lines at the top name the topics being compared. Below them the page is split into three ruled columns: only topic A on the left, only topic B on the right, and a shaded middle column for the things that are true of both.
Straight columns beat overlapping circles on paper because every line is full width and nothing has to be squeezed into a crescent. The columns run almost the full height of the page, so there is space for a dozen or more points on each side, and the shading on the middle column makes it obvious at a glance which part is the shared one.
A What I noticed box at the bottom asks for the conclusion, which is the step children most often skip. All five areas, including the two topic lines, are form fields, so the chart can be filled in on screen and handed in, or printed blank for a lesson. It suits book characters, two animals, two countries, two experiments or any other pair.
