This landscape grid keeps a week of homework on one page. Eight rows down the left are for the subjects, which you type or write yourself rather than being stuck with a fixed list, and the columns across the top are the days of the week. Each assignment goes in the box where its subject meets the day it was set.

The last column is for the due date, which is the piece most homework diaries hide. Having it on the same row as the assignment means a quick glance down the column shows what has to be handed in next, and a parent checking the sheet can see it without reading every box. Long assignments can be written in the day they are set and tracked to a due date later in the week.

Under the grid are a parent signature line and a minutes read this week line, which many primary schools ask for. All sixty or more cells are form fields, so a family can keep the planner on a laptop and print it on Friday, or print it blank on Monday and fill it in by hand. Choose five days for a school week or seven to include the weekend.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Choose the days

Monday to Friday for a school week, or the full week when homework runs over the weekend.

    Add your subjects

Type the subjects down the left column before printing, or write them in each week.

  3. 3

    Print or fill it in

Print at 100% ("Actual size") so lines and boxes keep their exact spacing, or fill the form fields on screen in any PDF viewer.

  4. 4

Fill it in as homework is set

Write each assignment in the day it was set and the hand-in date in the Due column, then get the planner signed.
